Loaders are primarily used for shoveling, loading, unloading, and transporting bulk materials such as soil and stone. They can also perform light excavation work on rock and hard soil. With different working attachments, they can also perform bulldozing, lifting, and loading/unloading of other materials. In highway construction, they are mainly used for filling and excavating roadbeds, and for collecting and loading materials in asphalt and cement concrete yards. Due to their advantages of high operating speed, good maneuverability, and ease of operation, they have developed rapidly and become a major type of machinery in earthwork construction.

The braking performance of the loader must also be fully considered, including multiple braking systems, parking brakes, and emergency brakes. Brakes come in three types: shoe brakes, caliper disc brakes, and wet multi-disc brakes. The drive mechanism of the brake generally uses a force-adding device, with power sources including compressed air, air-to-hydraulic, and hydraulic systems. Air-to-hydraulic braking systems are commonly used, and dual-circuit braking systems are generally employed to improve driving safety.
