A loader is a widely used earthmoving machine in construction projects such as highways, railways, buildings, hydropower, ports, and mines. It is primarily used for loading and unloading bulk materials such as soil, sand, gravel, lime, and coal, and can also perform light excavation operations on ores and hard soil. With different auxiliary working devices, it can also perform bulldozing, lifting, and loading/unloading operations of other materials such as timber.

In road construction, especially in high-grade highways, loaders are used for filling and excavating roadbeds, and for collecting and loading asphalt mixtures and cement concrete materials. They can also be used for pushing and transporting soil, leveling ground, and towing other machinery. Due to its advantages such as high operating speed, high efficiency, good maneuverability, and ease of operation, the loader has become one of the main types of machinery used in earthmoving construction projects.
